Lake Pleasant Log Cabin
Lake Pleasant, New York, United States 11569
Step back in time for a true Adirondack experience on our very private three acres of wooded lakefront. Very romantic spot with lots of wildlife sightings. Enjoy the lake and mountain views from the wrap around porch or the lakeside gazebo, we provide spotting scope and binoculars. You will have use of two cabins, one is the authentic log cabin with loft bedroom, full kitchen and living room, the other is a unique lakefront "glamping" queen bedroom cottage with chandelier and stunning views.
Enjoy that first cup of morning coffee on the deck listening to the birds welcome in the day. Take breakfast to your lakeside gazebo, and try spotting the beavers, eagles, mergansers, egrets and other wildlife sharing our slice of heaven. Kayak or paddle board out onto beautiful Lake Pleasant for a dip in the clear waters. Nightime is for star gazing, roasting marshmallows and telling tall tales around the fire.
2 sets of binoculars, a spotting scope, 2 kayaks, 2 stand up paddle boards with life preservers are provided.
What is so unique about this property is the privacy, the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere - but town is just a short drive away. Hiking, road trips, museums, tennis, golf, nice dinners out and lots of other fun stuff are all available nearby...but you may choose to never leave the seclusion of this property. Quoting one recent guest: "we felt like we were dropped into a fairy tale land".
You will have access to 2 cabins while here. The log cabin has an open floorplan, fireplace, kitchen, bathroom and sleeping loft with one double and two twin beds. The classic wrap around porch is furnished with adirondack chairs, dining table, grill, cool night lighting and one truly magnificent view.
The second cottage sits about 100 feet from the log cabin. This sweet cottage is set up has a luxury bedroom, with queen bed and chandelier, is very private, and has incredible lake views, designed for the ultimate "glamping" experience! This can be used as your master bedroom or as luxury second bedroom.
We supply nice bedding and linens, bath mats, kitchen and hand towels, but we do ask guests to bring their own beach and bath towels.
What's to LOVE about this property? Ultimate Privacy (a rare find on the waterfront!), Views, Wildlife, Cuteness, Uniqueness, Authenticity and Plenty of Room to Roam on and around the property. Kayaks, Paddleboards, binoculars and a list of fun hikes and places to go are supplied, we really do all we can to assure that you will have the ultimate Adirondack experience here. Flat screen TV with Netflix, but no cable.
What might you NOT love? Our lakefront is accessible for launching the kayaks and paddleboards, but there is no sand beach. To swim you take the kayaks or paddleboards through a short river path (50 feet) to the lake and swim off of them. There is no washer/dryer here. We do not have a/c (rarely needed around here), but we do provide fans for those warmer days and eves.
Also, RECYCLES are a real hassle here, they are not picked up by the town, so our rule here is similiar to camping: If you brought it in, you must agree to take it out. The town recycle center is a 7 minute drive, you can take them there yourselves, but you must follow the town guidelines. Sorry in advance for the hassle, but we can't rent this house without guests taking on that responsibility. Exact instructions found in the cabin.
Due to our close proximity to the lake and semi-remote location, we have a sensitive septic system and limited well water. Please be gentle with both. As a result, this property cannot to be used for family reunions, parties or entertaining. No more than 4 people to be here at any time.
No smoking, no pets, no parties here.

Some highlights: • Beautiful location—both cabins look out directly on the lake; the morning sun streams through the trees, and the gazebo is a wonderful place to enjoy views of the woods and lake. • Peace and Quiet! There is very little traffic on the road, and we only heard a power boat on the lake twice during our 5-day stay. There are houses in the vicinity, but they are out of sight because of the stand of trees and bushes, and the neighbors were very quiet. • Birds, including woodpeckers and a great blue heron fishing in the same spot every evening • Thoughtfully designed and well-equipped main cabin, with access from lakeside and roadside, broad porch overlooking the lake and lots of comfortable, lightweight Adirondack chairs that can be easily moved to track the sun. • Friendly folks in the local supermarket in Speculator, which is well stocked, a thrift shop that has just about every household item one could imagine, including some nifty items from the 40s, 50s and 60s, and a department store with a nice selection of clothes (open year-round). • Hiking trails—there are lots in the area (check them out on the AllTrails app); we only got to try one, the Auger Falls Loop a few miles east of Speculator on Route 30, and it was great—the trail follows a stream that drops about 100 feet in a series of waterfalls.
We loved staying here. The cabin had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable experience - from small details like a coffee maker, salt and pepper to the larger things that make a stay truly special like kayaks and paddleboards. The cabin is secluded and made us feel close to nature. As we dined on the porch, a hummingbird feeder provided much entertainment. A blue heron fished along the lakeside during our stay. In the morning the view of mist rising from the lake was breathtaking. Our hosts responded quickly to any questions and were very helpful and friendly.
My new wife and I were extremely pleased with our stay at the cabin. (We were on our honeymoon, this was the second lodging on our trip through the Adirondacks and Vermont.) Everything was as described and more - the cabin was clean and comfy, we had all the privacy we needed, and enjoyed our time near and on the lake. The location was also a nice jumping-off point for the other activities we were interested in, hiking, climbing and exploring. We certainly hope to visit again, hopefully for an even longer stay.
We so enjoyed this unique setting with beautiful views of Lake Pleasant and the mountains beyond it. From the special little cabin, to the main camp with a wrap around porch and deck, as well as a gazebo overlooking the marsh, provided various spots to enjoy this serene setting! A fire pit was enjoyed nightly with kayaks and paddle boards used daily. The rustic ambiance with sweet touches of lighting and shabby chic was appreciated throughout. The owners were very informative of the area and attentive with any needs we had. We definitely recommend this pleasant accommodation!!
We spent 4 beautiful peaceful romantic days .. being jet lagged we woke up very early in the mornings which we loved since we could enjoy the beaver busy with his dam.. the cabin in well equipped and so our meals were nothing short of superb as we could prepare anything with the ingredients we brought. Having kayaks was a treat as well, in our case, as we can’t haul our own on the plane- it sure made the difference having them right there. And I loved!!! The little path on the lake leading to the main body of water...sure plan on being back!!! No doubt!
This log cabin is a step back in time but with modern comforts (wifi, paddleboard, netflix). Spent our mornings on the huge wrap around deck listening to the loons, using the spotting scope to watch wildlife (also spotted beaver, mergansers, egrets!). Enjoyed taking the kayaks on lake, loved the gorgeous foliage, took advantage of many suggested hikes, slept like babes in the very comfy queen bed in the bunk house. We needed a break from the monotony of a busy life and hard work, we got exactly what we needed here. We looked for days to find the right spot...and we were spot on with this choice! We will be back!
We enjoyed our stay very much in this lovely Adirondack cabin and very cozy 'guest' bunkhouse. Though rustic in appearance this cabin has all the necessary amenities - complete kitchen, functional bathroom, and comfy living room furniture...and it was really clean! The wifi worked great when needed. The décor was fun, and the availability of binoculars, and spotting scope, came in real handy as the cabin sits adjacent to the wetland portion of Lake Pleasant, where chipmunks, red squirrels, pileated woodpeckers, beaver, egrets, ducks and geese were sighted. And the sounds of loons calling in the early morning was eerily mystical. Nighttime brought out a sky teaming with stars. Though an occasional car can be heard on the road, the location was remarkably quiet...to the point where you can sit on the back porch and hear the falling autumn leaves hit the ground. Daytime can be filled enjoying some of the local trails and waterfalls, or simply sitting in this adorable cabin reading in front of the gas stove. A small library of books is available on numerous topics, as well as some great bird identification books. An evening campfire was found to be a relaxing way to end the day. You will find plenty of information in the cabin and that provided by Maura and Dave on area activities. There are many lakes in the area, and we found taking our boat out on neighboring lakes (Sacandaga Lake in particular) was an enjoyable venture. And there is plenty of space to park a boat in the driveway bumpout when not being used. We look forward to the time when we have an opportunity to return.
I was looking to get away for a few days to someplace quiet in the woods and on the water. This cabin was perfect for that. I kakayed around the lake, fished in it (caught a big one) and went hiking up a local mountain. The rest of the time I read books and chilled out. Excellent place for that. The house is on a popular lake with plenty of activity, but it is insulated from that by its location near a natural area, set back into the trees.
My fiancé and I stayed for several nights, and we both loved it! The cabin was perfect, with great views of the lake and extremely private and peaceful. There are lots of trails within a short drive, but we were also content to just stay and relax on the lake. If you are looking for a a secluded spot with Great Lake views, look no further. Everything was great!
If you like a log cabin with a quiet rustic setting this is the place for you. The main sounds you hear are ducks, a Great Blue, there are a few boats here an there but overall very quiet. There's a marsh in front and to the side with many birds, I was surprised there weren't many mosquitoes. This is such a relaxing place to kick back and enjoy, have an evening fire, read a book. The cabin is fully furnished with everything you need. Speculator is close by so if you need to pickup additional wood, food or out for a bite it's a breeze. They supply a couple kayaks and paddle boards which workout very well. Everything functioned well, bbq grille, lights, water, heat, shower. We just couldn't be happier with the stay.
We love this place! The views are to die for! The cabin is very well laid out and has a rustic feel and a cabiney feel to it. It is a very quiet area and plenty of wildlife around( humming birds, wild turkeys, beaver, chipmunks, black squirrels, etc. It is a very clean cabin. We will be coming back to this place for sure!
Wish we could have stayed longer! Old style Adirondack cabin with extra special decor. We truly enjoyed having our coffee on the wrap around porch while listening to all the sounds nature provided. There were loons and even a bald eagle. Kayaking was great way to see all the sights Lake Pleasant has of offer. Can't wait to go back! Thank you for sharing your home. George & Deb
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We had planned to go to the Bahamas, however hurricane Matthews made it impossible. Lake Pleasant was a beautiful substitute! By the end of the trip we were actually glad our flight to the Bahamas was cancelled. The cabin is very clean and cozy. The property and the views of the lake and mountain are gorgeous. There were plenty of hikes and shopping with secinic drives. We would definitely stay here again!
The log cabin and additional cottage are wonderful. Very clean, accurate descriptions and well maintained. The owners and property manager were awesome and very responsive. We would absolutely recommend this property to anyone. The area is beautiful and like a slice of heaven. We did a lot of hiking and enjoyed nearby lakes also. We had dinner at Melody Lodge on top of the mountain just right outside of town and it was incredible. We are definitely coming back to visit next year.
