Welcome to Camp Stardust, a very sweet cabin in the woods, on the water, with ultimate privacy. There are no neighbors, you share this slice of heaven only with wildlife and the occasional canoe gliding by.
Camp Stardust is all windows, so the views are stunning, even at night. We turn off the lights, turn on the fire, and enjoy the reflection of the moon off the lake. The sight of the fog lifting in the morning is worth the early rise.
The setting here is unique and quite spectacular, but can be a challenge to manage and maintain given the weather and location. So, please note that we have some restrictions. We cannot accommodate pets (no exceptions, sorry), parties, smoking or unregistered guests. Maximum 4 persons including children. If this works for you please read on:
We follow CDC recommendations for cleaning, and provide lots of extras to make your stay easy and breezy. Just bring your food, the rest was taken care of by us. This is an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts as we share all our special spots, like hikes to amazing views and waterfalls, peaceful spots for a lakeside picnic, and the best pubs. Those who prefer to stay home and soak in the views from the sofa or hammock will be equally pleased.
Rates are for 2 persons, there is a $25 per night, per person fee for 3rd and 4th guests. Sleeps 4 max, but is the perfect romantic getaway for two. You will find plenty of hiking, kayaking (BEST in the area!), swimming, exploring, skiing, snowshoe and snowmobile opportunities. We supply local guide books and restaurant recommendations.
The open floor plan with cathedral ceilings creates a spacious, airy main room with easy to turn on gas fireplace. There are 2 bedrooms, one with queen bed, one with a double. A separate TV room is for watching movies, reading or enjoying that mid afternoon nap. Great lake views from this sweet little room as well.
Camp Stardust has one bath (shower only), an outdoor hot shower in the warmer months, indoor gas fireplace, outdoor fire pit, full kitchen, Weber charcoal grill, great wifi, 40' flat screen for DVD movies and Netflix (but no cable), land line phone (no cell service), and a fabulous Sonos Stereo system with indoor and outdoor speakers to enjoy music while grilling or chilling.
Need to work while here? We have a desk right up against the window so you can write that novel or email your client while observing the wildlife on the lake.
SPRING and SUMMER
This is a kayak haven for both beginners and the more experienced. You will have 4 kayaks, one canoe and life preservers. Our Lakefront Boathouse provides easy access to the water. Watercraft available May 10-Nov 1.
Kayak 10 minutes to the right, you are on stunning Piseco Lake. Kayak 30 minutes to the left (for the experienced kayaker only) to the more remote wilderness of Big Bay Lake. Lots of natural shoreline and wildlife to explore. Most of our waterfront is too shallow to swim, so we kayak to the lake and enjoy the clear water and sandy bottom of Piseco Lake for a swim.
Need we say how stunningly beautiful it is here during foliage? It's magical.
This cabin is like living inside a snow globe in the winter. There are so many windows you are simply surrounded by snowfall. A unique feature is that the moving water out front rarely freezes, so expect beautiful views and wildlife sightings year round. Otters are frequently seen sliding across the ice, very fun to watch!
Many hiking, snowshoeing and x-country ski adventures to be found locally. Great fishing. There is a small but very fun ski mountain, Oak Mt., nearby with great music, meals and skiing with a view. Gore ski mountain is a 50 minute drive. We supply 4 sets of adult snowshoes and one child pair. We are surrounded by woods, lake and rivers, so a snowshoe hike right from the front door will take you through very pretty snow covered forest and striking river front spots.
This is snowmobile country, hundreds of miles of groomed trails through the woods and across the many lakes. Stop in to a local pub for lunch and a beer, and head out to the next lake. Local rentals, lessons and guides available.
But our favorite activity is sitting by the fire with a hot cocoa and observing the wilderness and the ever changing weather from the comfort of the sofa :)
An all wheel (or 4 wheel) drive vehicle is necessary to navigate our snowy dirt driveway in winter. It is plowed regularly but can be tricky in icy weather. We recommend guests bring warm outdoor clothing, yak traks, tall snow boots and a sense of adventure!
MORE ABOUT THIS CABIN
This is a very private, secluded property, however it is not remote. It is easy to get to, we are down a private 200 foot dirt driveway directly off Rt 8.
DISCLOSURE: there is a security camera on the driveway, used to monitor arrivals, departures, deliveries, snowfall and wildlife.
What's to LOVE? Just about everything listed above.
What might you NOT love? There is a small bridge nearby that separates our outlet from Piseco Lake, and you can hear the cars going over the bridge when outside which is the only thing we would change if we could.
Also, RECYCLES are a real hassle for the housekeeper to manage as they are not picked up by the town. So our rule here is like camping, if you bring it in, you must agree to take it out. A few can be left for her to take in her car.
This is a great home for self reliant, independent travelers looking for very comfortable, private and pristine accommodation in a unique and special spot. Piseco and the surrounding area are beautiful, but have limited entertainment venues other than nature hikes, mountains, wildlife, lakes and rivers.
PLEASE NOTE: We get booked year round, our housekeeper has set aside Monday and Friday for us, so arrivals and departures need to be on one of those days. Please inquire if you would like something different, we will accommodate when we can.

Absolutely Perfect mother and daughter getaway. We loved the cabin, the cleanliness and especially the decor. Very comfortable and homey. It is quite apparent the owners Maura and David, take pride and care in the cabin to provide you with an amazing stay. Communication was Excellent and very responsive. The cabin is a perfect getaway with a Gorgeous view of the Lake, all the comforts of home, and complete Serenity. We will be back! Kelly K.
The secluded location and absolute beauty of the surroundings made this a perfect romantic getaway. The cabin is absolutely gorgeous, just a wonderful, picture-perfect space to unwind and unplug. We spent hours curled up by the fire, watching nature. The hosts were incredibly responsive, and kind enough to send along a list of nearby skiing and other attractions, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Would love to return in the summer or fall to enjoy the outdoor fire and kayak in the water.
This is a beautiful slice of paradise on Lake Piseco. We thoroughly enjoyed our escape to Camp Stardust, which is located on the edge of the lake in a wonderfully secluded outlet. This is a great place to unwind and having the on-site availability of kayaks, to further explore the lake, was an added bonus. The cabin location is also very convenient for exploring other nearby lakes and hiking trails. Maura is a fantastic host and we will definitely be returning to Camp Stardust in the future.
You will not be disappointed! This place exceeded our expectations. Everything from the owners replying back quickly to the amazing views around the lake. We canoed the lake with such ease, we hiked trails and saw waterfalls, we enjoyed the starry night and loved the peace and tranquility this place offers. Maura really makes you feel at home. We can’t stop saying great things about this place to our friends and family. We will definitely be returning here to make more memories.
Wonderful Got Away
We just returned from a lovely week at Camp Stardust. The setting is just beautiful and the hosts provide everything you could possibly want or need. Relaxing, private .. just perfect
We enjoyed staying at Camp Stardust. It was the only cabin on the Piseco Lake Outlet. There was no boat traffic, extremely calm water, and no noise, except for the birds. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed, including multiple kayaks and a canoe. If you took the kayak to the right of the cabin and under the bridge you would end up on Piseco Lake. (10 min) If you went left for aprox. 35 min. you would end up at a remote and uninhabited lake. The owner of the property checked in with us to make sure everything was good. They also made sure they left detailed instructions about everything from recycling, to restaurants, to best places to hike. I think anyone would enjoy staying here!!
A Columbus Day weekend provided peak foliage in the Adirondacks and the sunshine gave us a glimpse of the natural splendor, Maura and David provided the rest with this spectacular home. A highlight for us was taking the kayaks down the outlet on Sunday afternoon. The entire outlet feels undisturbed as we could see only two camps on the shore. The clouds that we left the boathouse under broke apart and the sun dipped below the clouds and set the fall foliage on fire. What a sight for Carol and me. The birds on the water were very entertaining as well. Thanks for sharing this lovely home Maura and David.
The cabin and grounds were a beautiful place for us to spend a few days. Everything inside and out was clean, the kitchen had every utensil/item that could be remotely necessary, and the boat house was fully stocked as advertised (and also, extremely clean for an outdoor building). In the event that you got bored (somehow), the entire cabin is lined with books—a perfect, peaceful way to spend a few hours. It rally was a great place to get away and reset for a few days.
This is our second summer staying at Camp Stardust. We absolutely love it here. The inlet is perfect for fishing, kayaking and canoeing. The area is beautiful as is the home. We would highly recommend this home/location for anyone who wants to get away from it all. You can do as much or as little as you'd like. We will be back. Thank you Maura for always being super receptive with any questions we have.
Everything about the cabin retreat is just as promised. We were 2 couples and we relaxed, read our books, watched the water fowl on the lake, used the kayaks and canoe, built a fire in the pit one night, beautiful sunsets, took a couple of hikes and totally enjoyed the cabin experience. We'd love to go back.
We had the best vacation here. The cabin was perfect. Clean, comfortable and perfect location. The boathouse made kayaking easy and fun. We went out everyday. Lots of wildlife on the water to watch from the yard. So much info on fun things to do and places to eat. We couldn't of asked for a better 20th anniversary getaway. Maura was super helpful. Theres not one thing the property was missing. We will definitely be back.
It’s not easy to find the right words to describe the cabin and lake setting, but this is a special place! We had a wonderful time! The cabin is absolutely charming in every way and the setting is truly beautiful. We loved our time there! Maura and David have done a terrific job anticipating their guests’ needs. We really enjoyed kayaking on the lake and the ease of getting the kayaks from the boathouse made it so nice! Thank you again for allowing us the opportunity to stay in such a beautiful home, in such a beautiful place!
I planned a surprise engagement for my girlfriend. Maura was an absolute pleasure to work with along the process. She helped me pick the location, gave references for photographers, and supplied detailed instructions and directions. There is not one bad thing I can say about the property: from its cleanliness, amenities, and views. This property will not disappoint.
Sehr schönes Haus direkt am See. Ausstattung ist perfekt. Es fehlt an nichts. Selbst die Küchenmesser taugen was. Kochgeschirr ebenso. Der Aussenbereich (Grill , Kanus etc) ist sehr gut eingerichtetet. Die Hausordnung ist ausführlich. Aber vieleicht ist ja gerade deshalb alles gut in Schuss. Gerne wieder
The cabin is perfectly designed for cozy efficiency and full enjoyment of the natural surroundings. We are two couples in our 60's who have spent our lives kayaking, hiking, and biking. We only scratched the surface of adventure to be found in the area. The owners truly care about their cabin! Maura was easy to communicate with and her instructions were very clear. We will be going back soon!
This is our second time at this property and everything was excellent. Clean, comfortable, well equipped cabin in a convenient location. This is the perfect spot for a couple seeking to escape from the rat race of normal life. While there is no cell phone service in the area, you will find that the wifi will enable your cellphone to work if it is so configured, so don't fret about missing any calls or texts. There's also a land line if you need it. There's a great sound system both inside and out and the selection of music is endless. If you want to cook, fine - you will find everything you need. But if you don't, drive towards Speculator and you will find some interesting options. Maura leave restaurant suggestions that are right on. You can see that the owners like to be comfortable and are concerned that their guests are too. Highly recommend to you, except for the days we may want to come back.
This is a beautiful little house on a quiet outlet of Lake Piseco. We used the canoe and kayaks daily. Spent whole days on the water. Fishing was OK...mostly rock bass and a few larger whitefish. We mostly just enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and paddling all around the area waterways. Speculator is close enough to get groceries or dinner and ice cream. This is the second property we have rented from Maura and we loved them both.
Had a wonderful, relaxing time at this gorgeous, well-appointed cabin in an absolutely idyllic location! I was recovering from surgery, so we weren't able to take advantage of the kayaks and all the wonderful hiking opportunities, but it didn't matter in the least. The views from the house are amazing. We saw a bald eagle soar overhead, an otter float by, and an osprey dive for his dinner, all without stepping outside. Maura, the owner, was thoughtful and efficient without ever being obtrusive. The cabin was tastefully decorated, clean, comfortable, and included many thoughtful touches that enhanced our stay. The indoor/outdoor Sonos system was amazing! My husband and I hated to leave and can't wait for a return visit!
The first thing to strike you is the view over the water as you walk into the cabin. This is a perfect private getaway in a beautiful setting. The weather changed daily during our stay with snow, mists, sunshine and rain, all of which we enjoyed from the comfort of the cabin which caters for every need. Having a separate TV den is a big plus. This place is definitely a cut above the rest, a real home from home.
This met every expectation I possibly could have had for it. The home is as remote as you could possibly ask for - no neighbors, no developments. Just you and the forest and what feels like your own private lake. It had a quaint "cabiny" feel, but with clean and modern fixtures and a wide-open living area that felt downright luxurious. The bathroom facilities were also top-notch. The whole place was tastefully decorated and all in all felt like a warm and welcoming home each time we came through the door. The only caveat is that the area is remote. Adequate groceries are available a 20 minute drive away, but for anything more substantial you most likely want to stock up before you arrive.
My wife and I rented this cabin for a long, kid-free weekend. It couldn't have been better. First, the cabin is clean, cozy, and everything you'd want in a wilderness retreat. Though there is wi-fi and a television, the cabin keeps your focus where it should be - the outdoors. Second, the views are stunning. You're the only one on this end of the lake, and it feels (and is) very private. Finally, the owners are responsive and hospitable. They tell you everything you need to know well before you arrive, and make sure they're available during your stay. We couldn't have been happier with our decision to stay at this cabin. It was our best VRBO experience to date.
What a stunningly beautiful lakeside cabin! We stayed with four people in the winter. It was snowing the whole time that we were there and we could not have wished for a more cozy winter retreat. Great cross country trails about 45 minutes away (just follow the very detailed instructions/notes that the owners provide). The owners were also super friendly and responsive to our requests. By far the best property we've ever stayed in on HomeAway. Five star rating!
We fell in love with the pictures and must say that the cabin did not disappoint! We escaped for a 4 day weekend for a mini babymoon and our only regret was that we did not stay longer. The cabin was relaxing and cozy and comes with everything you would need for the perfect getaway. The view of the lake was just breathtaking and so private. We stayed late fall and the first few days were in the 50s and sunny and the last few were a winter wonderland! It was amazing to see the cabin/property in 2 different seasons. I loved that we received detailed instructions from the owners before we arrived. The information was helpful and took any guesswork out of planning for our trip. We cannot really provide any advice as to what is around the cabin because we packed all of our groceries so that we did not have to leave the property but the information packet had a lot of local suggestions.
Our stay at the cabin couldn't have been better. It's a wonderful retreat with all the amenities you'd need--and then some. The view is spectacular and we got the opportunity to sit by the fire and watch it gently snow on Thanksgiving day. Besides the location, the views, the comfort of the cabin and the beds, in particular I appreciated the easy payment process and the great communication with the owner. This one definitely goes on my "to stay again" list.
This is a well appointed cabin for discerning people who like to kick back and get away from it all. There are a lot of "P's and Q's" itemized in the tenant instruction sheet, but nothing that one cannot live with. After all, we are being given the opportunity (at a cost) to stay in someone's home and they want visitors limited in terms of number and time visiting, which is their right. They also want the BBQ grille cleaned, which, frankly we liked because of my wife's fish allergies. It is a beautiful home. There is no live TV, although you can access the owner's Netflix account. The home audio system is state of the art and permits you to enjoy a wide array of music. They say there's no cellular service, although if your phone can place cell calls over the WiFi, you will find that may work for you. I have an IPhone and it worked like a champ. There is a landline that you can forward your calls to if you cannot be too far out of touch with family or business. The furniture is very comfortable and the windows overlooking the inlet are excellent. There are some spider webs, but this is the Adirondacks after all and any home, no matter how well kept, will have them from time to time. The price was fair, although we attempted to book the 3-nite minimum stay but were informed that the advertised condition did not apply and we would have to take it for 4-nites. We did it and did not make an issue of it as we made our plans late and were obviously sandwiching ourselves in between other tenants. If we were making plans further in advance we might have chosen another property, but those of a quality that would attract us were all booked. C'est la vie. As we are both very busy professionals, time is precious and we are very discerning as to where we stay. This place definitely did the job. This is not a place for children or pets. In our opinion, it is ideal for two people despite that it can sleep 4. It's a little close to the road and you do hear vehicles going over the nearby bridge. Having said this, this is a gorgeous property and we totally understand what attracted the owners to purchase it. We absolutely loved our stay here and hopefully will return at some point in the future.
We stayed in this adorable and well-cared for cabin over the July 4th weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was clean and very, very well stocked with gorgeous views giving the illusion you are far away from it all. Really though, you are right off the road and a quick fifteen minute drive into Speculator. There is easy water access for kayaks and the lake is quiet--perfect for kayak outings. We enjoyed the cool evenings sitting outside by the fire pit in the many Adirondack chairs provided. We worried about no AC in summer but that was not an issue at all. Days were very comfortable and nights cool--perfect in fact. The cabin has great windows with screens that allow the breeze to blow in nicely. I can't think of a single thing to complain about--the stay was that nice.
This is a beautiful, clean and very well-maintained cabin, which is just as described in this listing. The location is indeed very private and the lake views are awesome. The owner, Maura, was very nice and accommodating whenever we had questions about the property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to going back again.
I cannot say enough how much I enjoy staying at this house. It is so peaceful and removed from the busyness of the world. Maura and Dave have thought of everything to make the stay easy, enjoyable and hassle free as much as possible. This is the second time to stay and I look forward to many more times in the future. There is no doubt if you are even thinking of staying here, do it. You will not be disappointed! Thank you for a much needed get away spot!
Our experience at the Piseco Lake cabin was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the picturesque view, cleanliness of the cabin, and overall experience. Every single detail of living was attended to. We are a fairly young couple that just wanted to get away for a bit and spend some quality time together, and we were surprised with much more than we expected. For whomever is reading this review, "RENT THIS BEAUTIFUL CABIN." Seriously. All of our days were spent reading, creating wonderful meals, enjoying fires on the water (in January!), exploring, hiking and making memories. We will be back, for sure...or maybe to another location owned by these amazing owners. Absolutely fantastic.
Wow, what a lovely cabin. Clean, well kept with many amenities. Views of the lake were amazing. The snow added to its beauty. Can't wait to come back in the summer to enjoy the kayaks and fishing. The listing description was right on. The owners truly care about this property and it's renters. We had a wonderful time!
We wanted a cozy winter escape, and that's exactly what we got! The cabin is extremely well maintained and the views of the lake are simply stunning. The instructions provided were very thorough and helpful, and the tips on the surrounding area are great as well. We were quite snowed in, so we didn't get to enjoy some of the grounds, but if we were feeling a bit more adventurous it would have been a breeze to grab some snowshoes from the shed and trek off! That said, we were perfectly content to enjoy all the interesting little guides and books throughout the cabin, and the uber-chill TV nook with the comfiest couch in the world. We also cooked for ourselves mostly, and were extremely happy with all the cookware provided. The nearest town is Speculator, which went into twice for some late morning french press coffee at Timberline Cafe (the food looked excellent here too but we were in the midst of an elimination diet so we just stared longingly, drooling at everyone else's.), bought some sweet and highly-discounted Woolrich flannels at the Speculator Dept Store, and grabbed a nice early dinner at the Melody Lodge (again mostly just ogling other people's food, but they do have a scratch kitchen and one of the chef's was familiar with our diet so she was able to whip up a very delicious compliant meal for us), and we drove south on Rt 30 a bit for the short walk-in-the-woods Auger Falls trail (amazing, saw some bear and coyote tracks though so be watchful!). Long story short, we would absolutely do this trip again, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a nice remote retreat. We also can't wait to go back for the warmer months and do some hiking and fishing!
This cabin is the perfect paradise away from home. You feel completely secluded in the woods which was perfect for My fiance and I which live in NYC and were looking to get away from it all. Maura and David answered any questions we had and were great! Looking to come back and experience this paradise in the summer, Can't wait!
Wow! If you are reading this, you have already looked at the amazing pictures and read the description. It is all 100% accurate and on the money! This is the ideal cabin experience: secluded, quiet, on a lake, amazing views right outside the windows. Yet, what makes it standout is that the interior of the cabin is NOT your typical cabin experience: no creaky floors, no holes where critters can come in, no cobwebs and spiders....none of that! Rather, you get the sense inside that you are staying in a very comfortable, upscale condo that just so happens to have been plunked down on the shore of a private lake. Amazing. Maura touched base at the beginning to check we were good, and was there if we needed her. She and David have thought of every little thing you might need, and it is there. A stove I would love to have in my own home! We would stay here again, and we have already also decided we want to try some of Maura and David's other homes; that is what awesome owners they are. Oh, and security was returned before we even finished our trip! Thank you both!! Jim and David
My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon for 10 days and we were in heaven. This is the first time we were in the Adirondacks. The property was beautiful, the cabin was immaculate, and the views were stunning. Maura and David made sure the cabin was equipped with everything we possibly needed. We had an amazing stay and we're so glad we chose this cabin. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Thanks again Maura and David! We hope to return :)
We were so excited about the cottage from the moment we stepped out of the car and then even more when we walked in. The cottage is great, bright and cozy, and the views are amazing. We couldn't stop just sitting and staring at the lake and the beauty. We did many Adirondack hikes including Ampersand Mountain (hard, but amazing) Castle Rock, and Panther/Echo Cliff with views of Piseco Lake. The views and colors from the cottage and the yard were amazing in the fall, we picked the most perfect time to be there. We had Piseco Lake to ourselves on a perfectly calm afternoon kayak, it was amazing with everything reflecting in the water. There is not much in the area, but most of what you would need in Speculator if necessary. We made dinner in every night so can't say anything about the immediate area restaurants, but if you drive to Lake Placid it is a cute town and Outdoors at Dancing Bears had great food and a nice view of Mirror Lake. I highly recommend the cottage to anyone visiting the area. The only problem was that we didn't have more time to spend there, it was so hard to leave!
WOW! WOW! WOW! I cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was or how beautiful this cabin is! The first moment you walk in the door you are greeted by the pleasant scent of fresh wood - the cabin is immaculate and the owners have thought of everything. This was the first time either of my husband or I have had the pleasure of visiting the Adirondacks and it was truly a wonderful memorable vacation. We did quite a bit of kayaking and canoeing, climbed Panther Mountain, and visited some of the local site seeing attractions. It was my idea of paradise! As amateur photographer, I took 1441 pictures of the area!
We had a fantastic time at the cabin celebrating my dad's birthday. the cabin was exactly as described, with awesome views throughout the house. We enjoyed the kayaks and canoes and spent plenty of time sitting outside overlooking the lake. For a quick hike, hit up Panther Mountain - amazing views. The cabin was clean and the kitchen provided everything that we needed for a perfect stay. We all said we hope to come back in the future, thanks again, Matt
Words cannot do justice to this place. It's stunning!!! The views are to die for, the house is gorgeous and immaculate. We were there for a week over New Year's Eve. The cabin has everything you can possibly need, it's beautifully decorated and immaculate. It was ridiculously cold outside but the heating was great inside, you could sit by the fire and look at the stunning winter wonderland right outside the huge windows. The area is great for winter lovers, skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, all is there together with great casual bars and restaurants within 15 min to half an hour"s drive. The cabin is equipped with a full kitchen with every gadget and utensil you can need, the lounge is stunning with a beautiful gas fireplace, books and blankets to make it cozy, the TV room has comfy sofas and Netflix for those cold nights, it's all beautiful and amazing. Maura and David were fabulous hosts, getting back to us immediately to sort out any issue and answer every query. We had a fantastic time and we hope to return soon. Thank you so much!!!!!
We stumbled on this cabin while looking for a place to rent for a long weekend. It was obvious from the pictures that this place was a cut above many of the available properties, but even the pictures do not do it justice. The cabin is cozy without being cramped, well-appointed and warmly decorated, and the views are beautiful. It was great to find a place with so much privacy, but still within driving distance of stores and restaurants. We spent a relaxing weekend reading, walking, cooking great meals, and drinking wine by the fire. It was wonderful and we will definitely be back. Thank you Maura!
I went for a second time in June 2013 to the cabin (first time Fall 2012). The cabin is absolutely gorgeous. Extremely well maintained and clean, and tastefully decorated. Both times I felt at home as I stepped in the cabin. If you like hiking, I strongly recommend going to snowy mountain (it's worth the drive). The view is breathtaking (when the sky is clear). I recommend this cabin - you won't regret it! My only advice would be to bring a sufficient amount of groceries with you as the grocery store in Speculator offers a limited choice.
I came across this cabin while browsing on Homeaway. All the pictures looked very nice so I decided to rent the cabin. I surprised my girlfriend by taking her here and she was very nervous. I said its a cabin in the woods and she was very skeptic. But when we walked inside for the first time, we were both shocked. The pictures do not do this place justice. it is just the right size and everything you want/need is there. There is no detail left undone. The views are stunning and if you are looking for peace and quiet I do not think it gets better then this. There are no other people near you, its just you and nature. Having the Kayaks there is a huge plus. We used those everyday to explore the lake. We also went on a couple of hikes and the views from the top of the mountain are wonderful as well. Maura was very helpful and stayed in contact with us the whole time to make sure everything was going good as well as making sure everything was working. Having the large TV with netflix is also a nice convience in case there is bad weather you can atleast watch a movie if you want. They also have wifi just incase you need to use the internet for something. They take very good care of this cabin and it shows. This is defiently our first choice for our vacations from now on. I would recommend this to anyone who just wants to get away for a week, or just a few days. I just want to thank Maura for sharing their cabin with us, this place is a must when it comes to getting away!!
This rental is exactly as it is described!! It is completely private and peaceful. The cabin is absolutely gorgeous as is the outdoor property. It was immaculately clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The scenery is stunning. We kayaked every day and my husband caught 21 fish!! The Bass were practically jumping into the boat. It was very relaxing and the perfect getaway. "Civilization" is only 15 minutes down the road, in the beautiful town of Speculator. There are also some excellent choices for dining out. We can't wait to come back!!!
