Vacation Rentals of the Southern Adirondacks

Q. Where are your properties?

Six of the properties are located in the southern Adirondack Mountains, 4-5 hour drive from NYC, 1.5 hours from Albany, 1 hour to Lake George and Saratoga Springs. The one with the pool is located in Saratoga Springs.

Q. Are these houses private?

Houses are all private, with private yards and amenities, nothing is shared with neighbors. Some have total privacy in that you cannot see or hear any neighbors, see Camp Stardust and Lake Pleasant Log Cabin for complete privacy.

Q. We can't seem to rent some of your houses Saturday to Saturday, why is that?

We have amazing housekeepers, housemanagers, landscapers, etc. who help us with these properties. They all have unique availability as well as other jobs, so our rentals are sometimes not available starting on a Saturday.

Q. What time is check in and check out?

Check in anytime after 4PM. Check out by 10AM. We have promised the housekeeping staff privacy while they work, so we cannot accommodate early arrivals or late departures, sorry!

Q. Can I bring pets?

Sorry, we cannot accommodate pets.

Q. Is there a maximum number of people? Can we invite guests?

Some houses sleep 4, some sleep 6. Only guests listed on your reservation to be on the property unless you have prior written permission.

Q. Why is there a per person charge over two?

Although our houses may sleep up to 6 comfortably, they are all designed as the perfect romantic getaway for two. We feel it is only fair to offer lower prices if you are just one couple. So rates are set for two, there is an added fee per person over that.

Q. What is the damage deposit?

Damage deposit is to assure that we will be covered in the event you accidentally damage our property. We do not charge for every little broken thing, we know stuff happens. However, we do ask that you report any damage prior to your departure so we can address the issue before the next guest moves in.

Q. Is there a minimum age to rent your homes?

Yes, the minimum age is 25 years old, unless approved by us or accompanied by a parent.

Q. We rented from you before, do you offer discounts to return guests?

We love our return guests! Yes, we offer between 5-15% dependent on time of year and days of week.

Q. Are there bears and other animals in your area?

Yes there are bears, and yes they can be a nuisance (not in winter though, they are hibernating). We have strict garbage and recycles rules as a result, as it is a tasty treat for a bear. We go to extensive measures to keep the cute little field mice out of the houses, but on occasion one needs to be trapped. We rarely see coyotes or raccoon. What you may see are deer, lots of eagles these days, squirrels, chipmunks, ducks, egrets, heron, turkey, grouse, eagles, fox and if you are on our Lake Pleasant property we have a family of beaver out front. Lake Piseco sightings include otter playing in the lake. A moose was recently heard there (but not seen, yet).

Q. Is there cell service in the ADK's?

There is limited cell service throughout the Adirondacks, and on hikes you will likely have none, so be aware of this when setting out on adventures. Two of our houses do not have cell service, but do have a landline. All houses have good wireless internet.

Q. What extras do you provide in the houses?

We do our best to make your stay easy and breezy, so we do stock those little things you have at home but may not think to bring on vacation, like napkins, spices, tin foil, coffee filters, plastic wrap, laundry soap, etc. Nice linens, quality pots and pans, binoculars, kayaks and adult life preservers, snowshoes, maps, guide books, local restaurant and hiking suggestions found in every house. A full list of what to expect will be sent prior to arrival.

Q. What do we need to bring?

Beach towels, some houses we ask you to bring bath towels as well (those that do not have onsite laundry). We supply adult life preservers if boats are offered, but guests must bring life preservers for children, and sturdy water shoes for the kayaks. Coming in winter? Bring heavy boots so you can slap on the snowshoes.

Q. What's it like there in winter?

Magical! If staying in our remote houses like Camp Stardust, an all wheel vehicle is necessary to navigate the snowy driveway. Oak Mt Ski Resort is 15 minutes from any house. Gore Ski Mt is 35 minutes from Wells, as is Lapland Lake Cross Country Ski Resort. Winter hikeing to the local waterfalls is a must. Ice fishing on Charley Lake is epic.
